ADULT BALLET Grace and Strength, Your Way! Our adult ballet class is a welcoming space for dancers of all levels to refine their technique, enhance their artistry, and experience the joy of classical ballet. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned dancer, our experienced instructors will guide you through a progressive curriculum that focuses on fundamental ballet principles. In this class you can expect Classical Ballet Technique where we’ll learn proper alignment, posture, and movement quality; Barre Work where we’ll develop strength, flexibility, and control through exercises at the barre; and Center Floor Combinations where we’ll master center floor exercises, including turns, jumps, and sequences. Our classes are designed to accommodate dancers of all levels. We offer modifications and progressions to ensure a positive and rewarding experience for everyone. The benefits of ballet are Improved Physical Fitness, Enhanced Posture and Alignment, and Stress Relief and Boosted Confidence.
ADULT TAP Class begins March 4th.Unleash Your Inner Rhythm! Our adult 6 week tap dance class is designed to ignite your passion for dance and rhythm. Whether you’re a beginner looking to tap into a new hobby or an experienced dancer wanting to refine your skills, this class offers a fun and energetic learning environment. In class you’ll learn fundamental techniques like the basic steps, rhythms, and musicality of tap dance. Our classes are designed to accommodate dancers of all levels. We offer modifications and progressions to ensure a positive and rewarding experience for everyone. The benefits of tap dance are Improved Physical Fitness, Enhanced Coordination and Balance, Stress Relief, and Social Connection. Join us and discover the joy of tap dance!
THE LITTLE MERMAID 6-WEEK MINI COURSE Dive into a World of Magic and Movement! Unleash your child’s inner mermaid with our enchanting 6-week mini ballet course, “The Little Mermaid.” This magical journey will transport young dancers to the underwater kingdom of Atlantica, where they’ll learn ballet basics, creative movement, and delightful choreography inspired by the beloved Disney classic.
What to Expect:
Boppin’ Babies is a BRAND NEW and fun program for children 9 months up to the age of 2 years and their parents/caregivers, that focuses on music and movement. The gender-neutral curriculum is specifically designed to increase children’s socialization skills, provide structure and consistency, and cultivate independence.
Parent/Tot Creative Movement: Music, movement, balance and the basic dance steps are introduced in a fun, friendly and positive manner. This type of class includes mom or dad or another loved one participating in the class along with the little dancer. Our teachers will keep the music and curriculum moving along while parents take an active role in encouraging, supporting, and keeping the little dancer on track.
Parent/Tot Acro: Music, movement, balance and basic tumbling are introduced in a fun, friendly and positive manner. This type of class includes mom or dad or another loved one participating in the class along with the little tumbler. Our teachers will keep the music and curriculum moving along while parents take an active role in encouraging, supporting, and keeping the little tumbler on track.
Tippy Toes is designed for toddlers to enhance gross motor coordination and listening skills through music, props, and dance.
Tutus & Bowties A Ballet class designed to enhance gross motor development, listening skills, musicality, and nurture the creative spirit.
Taps for Tots A Tap class that introduces dancers to rhythm and basic tap skills while creating a passion for this upbeat genre of dance.
Tiny Tots Jazz This introductory Jazz class will get dancers accustomed to the world of leaps and turns in this fun energetic genre.
Primary Ballet Introduces the young dancer to the steps and grace of Ballet.
Primary Tap Introduces the young dancer to the rhythm and sequences of Tap.
Primary Jazz This high energy, fast paced class will help some of our youngest dancers love jazz! Jazz class incorporates a warm up, isolations, stretches, and across the floor progressions. This class is for dancers who like precision and rhythm, physical challenges, and personal style and expression. Dancers will begin to learn the basics of jazz technique and a variety of beginning jumps, leaps, and turns!
Primary Hip Hop This class is our first of many in our Hip Hop genre. Dancers will learn the fundamentals of Hip Hop in preparation for this up beat, fast paced genre of dance.
Primary Acro Common moves learned and performed in AcroDance include somersaults, cartwheels, limbers, walkovers, etc.
Chara’s Studio training track starts at age 7 with Level I. Thereafter level progression is determined by skill based evaluations in the spring.
If you are NEW to Chara, are over the age of 8, and come with previous dance experience; email our School Director, Ms. Meghan meghan@charadance.com, to schedule a placement evaluation so we can determine the class that best suites your current abilities.
BALLET I
The first step into Studio Track dance starts at the age of 7 (no evaluation needed) in Ballet I. Dancers will be evaluated during class in the spring and either invited to examine for the next level or (more likely) directed to continue at this level for another year.
BALLET II – PRE-PROFESSIONAL
Ballet Classes Level II and up are taught based on our school curriculum to fit the developmental, technical, and strength level required of this ballet level. At this level dancers will have class twice per week with their class to further develop their skills
JAZZ I: Introduces young dancers to Jazz technique and combinations.
JAZZ II+: Jazz classes Level II and up are taught based on our school curriculum to fit the developmental, technical, and strength level required of this ballet level.
Introduces young dancers to Tap technique and combinations. Tap II+ dancers learn more intricate sequences giving them greater confidence and making them more eligible for musical theatre rolls.
It is a high-energy dance style that incorporates various elements of street dance, such as breaking, locking, and popping. Hip Hop dance is not only a great way to stay active and improve your physical fitness, but it also has numerous other benefits. It helps improve coordination, balance, and flexibility, which can be useful in everyday life. Additionally, Hip Hop dance can be an excellent stress reliever, as it allows you to channel your emotions and express yourself creatively.
Acro is the beautiful fusion of classic dance technique and the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements. Often defined by unique choreography, acro dancers seamlessly blend musicality, emotional expression, line and extension with acrobatic movements in a dance context.
